Turning Asparagus into Gold: White Silo Boutique Winery Cultivates a Farmer’s Dream Come True
SHERMAN, Connecticut May 20, 2009 – For the first time in Sherman’s farming history the asparagus at the White Silo Farm is coming up in gold and silver. Inspired by the recent asparagus festival held annually at the White Silo Winery, Jewel Tree, LLC’s owner Julie Bowes, also from Sherman, has plucked spring tendrils from the farm and cast them into precious metals for her freshest designs that debuted at the festival last Saturday. May, 23rd she welcomes one and all to an "Artist's Reception" from 12 - 5. Ease into the long weekend with style! Sit back and enjoy the bucolic setting of White Silo Winery, listen to live acoustic guitar and absorb the creative mediums of wine, jewelry and fine art.
Come and sample the fine wines crafted by Ralph Gorman from his 17 acre harvest of blackberries, raspberries, black currents and rhubarb. His role as resident farmer & vintner unequivocally proves his long standing respect and stewardship of his land resulting in a unique and superior product.
Located at 32 Route 37 East in Sherman, the farm owned by the Gorman family for over 20 years is a pristine countryside oasis that boasts an immaculate facility overlooking one of the most captivating views of the rolling Sherman Hills and beyond. The quintessential red barn and white silo house the tasting room and artisan showcases. During the months of September and October the farm is open for weekend gatherers to “pick-your-own” raspberries and blackberries.
